Veil
Project for a collective exhibition at Charbon Collectif - 2025
Videosurveillance, analytic AI, Raspberry Pi, monitor, button
A program removes the audience in real-time from the background. As the use of analytic AI for detecting and analyzing people’s behavior in modern societies continues to expand, people’s bodies and identities are increasingly exposed. Veil uses this technology to erase these bodies, as if they were never present in this place at that moment. Are the individuals’ bodies analyzed, used, and then deliberately censored, or are they simply erased from the entire setup, like a counterproductive technology that would have no actual interest in people’s data? In the piece, bugs and glitches appear as the program tries to erase the audience, revealing the limits of such processes and ultimately giving rise to deformed traces of the erased persons’ bodies.
