Fluid - Self-portrait
Project for a collective exhibition at Charbon Collectif - September 2025
Monitor, smartphones, live stream
Fluid self-portrait explores the question of bodily possession. The image of our bodies escapes us the moment it is shared. This work amplifies that phenomenon by giving visitors the ability to completely reshape my body through their actions, with a live “fluidity” effect applied to the image. On their smartphones, visitors can simultaneously move their fingers across their screens and distort the image in real time. All the deformations accumulate, making the image viscous — the body transforms, deforms. Anyone with an internet connection and the link can take part in the distortion, whether secretly from home or live, in front of the broadcast.
Deliberately offering a representation of one’s body to visitors who can act upon it may also be, paradoxically, a way of reclaiming it.
